Firstly, you can't MAKE someone do something - but you can encourage him by reaching for his hand - say when you're crossing the street or walking through a store and want to seem like you don't want to get lost.


The best way to urge a guy to hold your hand in public is to do it in private first. Establish a comfort zone with the physical relationship one on one in the comfort of each others' living room or something and slowly show affection here and there outside. If he is unresponsive, then he's just not into PDA and you will have to respect that - some people don't like to get mushy in public and it's understandable.
Okay with the hand on the opposite side of him your quickly and aggressively grab the hand closest to you while giving him a mean and dirty look, then you make him hold your hand. There you go.
Some people are not into public displays of affection. Stop trying to find ways to control his actions. If he wants to, eventually he will.
Just tell him that it would be nice to hold his hand.
